OUR BELIEFS

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to be people helping people find and follow Jesus!

OUR VALUES

We believe that no matter where you are in your faith, you can always take the next step to grow your relationship with God.  As a church, we are committed to continually growing and encouraging others to grow in their faith, connect in community, share God’s grace, serve others, and live generously.

OUR BELIEFS

God
Scripture teaches that God created everything we can see (and even everything we can’t see) out of nothing. Although it is impossible for the human mind to comprehend, the Bible teaches that God is one, yet has existed since the beginning of time as three distinct and equal persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Jesus
Jesus is God’s Son and an equal of the Father. He has existed from the beginning of time, yet lived on earth during the first century A.D. Throughout His earthly life, He was completely God and completely human at the same time. After living a perfect, sinless life, Jesus offered Himself as the final sacrifice for every human being by dying on a Roman cross.   After three days in the grave, He defeated sin and death by rising from the grave. He then ascended to Heaven and will return one day to reign as King.   Jesus is the exact imprint of the character of God – the visible image of the invisible God.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is a full and equal part of the Trinity. He works in the world to make all people understand their need for Jesus. The Holy Spirit lives inside of every follower of Jesus from the moment they decide to follow Him. The Spirit is our power source for life, ministry and spiritual growth. To tap into that power, we must continually submit to the Holy Spirit.
The Bible
At Westbridge Church, we put primary reliance on the Bible. It’s unique collection of books is God’s self-disclosure in the life of Israel; in the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus; and in the Spirit’s work in the early church. We consider the writings of the Scriptures to be sacred and consider them to be a foundation for our faith.

In our spiritual journey, we study the Bible within groups and in our community. Even when we study it alone, we’re guided and corrected through dialogue with other Christians. We interpret individual texts in light of their place in the Bible as a whole. With the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we try to discern both the original intention of the text and its meaning for our own faith and life.
Salvation
Our disobedient nature has eternally separated us from our Creator. No matter how hard we try, we can never earn our way back into God’s presence.   Our only hope is to trust in the self-sacrificial love displayed by Jesus on the cross and ask God to forgive our sins. When you make that decision, you are adopted into God’s family as His son or daughter!
The Church
The Bible tells us that the church is the body of Jesus in the world today. The New Testament tells us the church is a group of people – not a building – who work together to reflect the Kingdom of Jesus in our world! Jesus is the head of the church!
Jesus' Return
God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth, the dead will be raised and God will judge all men in righteousness. All things will be woven together and united under the loving Lordship of Jesus for all time! That is the hope of those who believe!
Eternity
God made you to exist forever. Heaven is a perfect place, and since none of us are perfect, we are all headed for an eternity of separation from God.   That is why God sent Jesus: to open our eyes to the kingdom of light so that we would turn from the kingdom of darkness – to express such an explosion of love through his sacrifice that we would turn from hate and selfishness to follow Him! What you decide about Jesus in this life will determine if you remain a part of his family for eternity.
